ABOUT JAYNE’S WORK

Jayne’s work typically embraces a culmination of strong colours, evocative forms, elements of pattern and texture to create unique interpretive compositions. Each print is unique, and begins life as monotype which is overlayed using various hand techniques including collage, stenciling, hand painting, gold leaf and screen printing. Her work represents a series of experiments resulting in bold compositions which unfold with both harmonious and contradictory elements.

By relinquishing control to the inherent spontaneity of the medium, each print becomes an exploration of the limits of creative expression.

ABSTRACTS Each layer of these large format monotype prints builds upon the last, and influences the direction of the next, resulting in bold compositions which unfold with both harmonious and contradictory elements. PORTRAITS This collection of work brings together abstracted portraits which explore femininity, identity and the power of clothing to portray or camouflage different versions of oneself.  There are hints of recognizable elements in each portrait; a suggestion of a face, hints of jewelry or semi identifiable aspects of clothing. Although abstract, each composition is grounded in a strong female form, giving each unknown portrait a beguiling, and individual sense of identity.

FLORALS The Floral Specimen collection explores abstracted floral forms and gives suggestions of certain flower types. This series is new to the collection and is building up through a series of individual stories.
